In February of 2009, a group of business men who all share a passion for fishing, got together to discuss the possibility of bringing to market a fishing rod technology that they believed could revolutionize the industry. While the concept of the hexagonal composite rod design had previously been in the marketplace under a different name several years prior, the group knew that a large financial commitment was required in order to bring new technological advancement to its design and production equipment. The undertaking would require a 12 month redesign of the product and a never before created set of tooling and equipment required to make it. After much discussion and analysis (and with great enthusiasm), the decision was made to move forward with the project and Colt Rod Company was born. Once the decision had been made the following non-negotiable subjects were established. 1. All Colt Rods will be made in their entirety here in the United States. 2. All Colt Rods will come with a lifetime warranty. 3. The company will strive to be the technological leader of fishing rod design and advancement. 4. Colt Rod Company would strive to be an innovator of sales and marketing strategies and a leader in customer service. 5. The company will control its distribution. 6. We will ensure that our organization is both socially and environmentally responsible. From there, the Colt Rod Company Mission Statement was created: We are focused on building a successful, socially responsible company that is recognized as the fishing industry's leader in technological rod design advancements; a leader in customer service; an innovator of new marketing, sales and distribution strategies and above all, a company that sets a new standard for its commitment to social, environmental and conservation initiatives.
