1. Who is Colt Fishing Rod Company?
Colt Rod Company is an organization that was founded by a group of individuals who are not only passionate about fishing but knowledgeable about business. We believe that the tackle industry has been long overdue for true technological advancement in rod design and that our Hextreme design technology will take the industry to a new era of performance, quality and durability.
2. What makes Colt Fishing Rods a true revolution in rod design?
The Colt Hexreme technology is the only fishing rod design in the world to incorporate true "uni-directional" fiber alignment through a hexagonal shape.

3. What are the differences between a traditional tubular rod and a Colt Fishing Rod?
Tubular fishing rods are made by wrapping a piece of composite material around a metal mandrel. Doing so creates a spiraling effect of the fibers and ultimately a rod which does not have the same casting accuracy, lifting power or durability of a Colt Rod.
Colt Technology - Tubular Rods
4. What are the benefits of the Hextreme and I-BEAM Technologies?
The benefits of the Hextreme I-Beam technology are as follows:
• The ability to use "uni-directional fibers" which dramatically increases sensitivity.
• The ability to use multiple types of higher compression vs. lower compression composites in a rod in order to create and engineered spine which in turn results in very high casting accuracy.
• The hexagonal I-Beam configuration allows the rods to have dramatically more lifting power and strength than that of a tubular rod.

5. What are the benefits of true uni-directional carbon fiber?
True uni-directional fiber alignment in a fishing rod design creates a rod that is more sensitive in feel, more accurate in casting and offers greater lifting power versus a tubular rod.

6. What are your customer service hours should I have any questions about my Colt Rod?
Our customer service hours are Monday-Friday 9:00am-9:00pm EST.
7. How do I know that Colt will be around long enough to honor the Warranty if I need to?
In the past few years we've seen just about everything in this economy of ours. At a time when the economy was contracting, the jobless rate soaring and gloom was seemingly everywhere, we took the opposite approach. To us, "now" is the time to be pouring money in to research and development. And "now" is the time to be innovators because we know the market is screaming for a new rod technology. When the decision was made to manufacture our rods in the US, we did so to create jobs, guard our intellectual property on our soil and prove to this industry that the US can be not only innovators but producers as well. Yes, we offer a lifetime warranty and while we can't crystal ball how the future will go, we're planning on being around a very, very long time.
8. What does Colt's Lifetime Unlimited Warranty cover?
If you are the original owner of a Colt Rod or have paid to have the warranty transferred into your name, then the rod is covered for life for all manufacturing defects that result in its failure.

10. Colt going to make other than Bass models?
Colt will be releasing its Colt line of Freshwater, Inshore Saltwater, Offshore Saltwater and fly rods during the 2010/2011 time period.
11. What is an Engineered Spine?
The Colt "Engineered Spine" allows for the use of multiple types of higher compression vs. lower compression composites which in turn creates highly accurate casting.
Colt Technology - The Colt Advantage
12. Is the Colt Rod 100% Carbon?
No, Colt uses different types of composite materials based on the performance attributes of the materials as it relates to the rods intended function. Some rod designs have all carbon of the same modulus, while other rod designs may incorporate higher and lower modulus materials. Incredibly, just one Colt Rod design can have as many as 49 different material configurations in it by using materials other than just carbon.
13. Do you us IM8 in your rod?
As demonstrated in our "Colt Technology Explained" section of our website, the effective modulus of carbon fiber in a Colt Rod is nearly double to that of a tubular rod. What this means is that a Colt rod can perform better using an intermediate modulus carbon fiber than tubular rod using a high modulus fiber such as IM8
14. What modulus do you use in Colt Rods?
Colt uses different types of composite materials based on the performance attributes of the materials as it relates to the rods intended function. Some rod designs have higher modulus carbon fiber in parts of the rods and lower modulus carbon fiber in other parts of the rod. As previously mentioned, just one Colt Rod design can have as many as 49 different material configurations in it by using varying types of modulus materials in them.
15. How do you get 100% unidirectional fiber alignment?
The Colt Hextreme technology is built around the I-Beam concept whereby the I-Beam has unidirectional fibers running through it for the entire length of the rod.
16. Do you align the guides the same as in round rods?
We do not align the guides the same as a round rod. Each Colt is made with an Engineered Spine for casting accuracy and torsional rigidity. Therefore, our guide placement takes into account the exact location of the engineered spine depending on whether making a casting or spinning rod.
17. Why is the engineered spine so important?
Unlike the spine of at tubular rod which happens "unintentionally" Colt's Engineered Spine is created deliberately. We engineer the spines of rods in order to give them absolutely correct guide positioning, unrivaled casting accuracy and torsional rigidity that a tubular rod will never be able to match.
Colt Technology - The Colt Advantage
18. Are Colt Rods heavier than the same round rod?
Somewhere along the line the industry was fooled into thinking that lighter is better. It's not. BALANCED IS BETTER! The industry for years has been pushing the envelope to make lighter and lighter rods. While that is great in theory, why do you see so many rods that break these days? Many tubular rod companies have pushed the pendulum too far in an attempt to differentiate themselves from their competitors and have created thin walled blanks that break very easily. Colt Rods internal I-Beam design means that our rods have more fiber content in them and as a result, higher sensitivity, greater lifting power and insane durability. The trick is proper balancing.
19. Can I try out a Colt Rod before I buy it?
The Colt dealers that will be coming online over the next 6-12 months will all have demonstration rods for the potential customers to try out before they buy a rod. If a dealer is not in your immediate area, Colt has a 30 return policy which enables customer to buy a rod, try it and if they don't like that model, return it within 30 days (minus shipping fees) for a full credit to be used towards the purchase of another Colt rod or other Colt producs.
20. How do I become a Dealer for Colt Rods?
If you are interested in learning more about our Dealer Programs, please contact us at 702-240-COLT(2568) and we'll be happy to chat with you about or various dealer programs.
21. Will you buy back my rod if I don't like it?
Once again, Colt Rod Company offers another industry first with it 30-day return guarantee. If you buy a Colt Rod and are not completely satisfied with its performance, you can return it for a full credit minus shipping. The credit can be used to purchase another Colt Rod or other Colt accessories and, it has no expiration date!
22. How do I know my rod is genuine?
Once a Colt Rod leaves our facility, security and proof of ownership are of the utmost importance to us. That's why each and every Colt Rod carries its own serial number embedded in a holographic label on the outside of the rod as well as an internal RFID chip inside of the rod. Each of those numbers must match in order for us to guarantee that it's an original Colt, and that its owner on record is the authentic owner. That's why owner registration after purchase is so important and mandatory in order for us to honor our warranty.
23. What is the nature of Colt McCoy's relationship with The Colt Rod Company?
